Take a break from wedding planning. Kind of a weird concept right? Well when a Wedding Planner says to do it to avoid wedding stress I’m all ears! Today I have the pleasure of having an amazing guest blogger who can shed some light on wedding planning stress and some tips on how to relax during this time. Check out what Wedding Planner Sarah Blessinger has to say:

Take A Break From Wedding Planning

by Guest Blogger & Wedding Planner Sarah Blessinger

Did you know stress can manifest in so many different ways?

It’s definitely not just in your head. Stress can manifest physically in your body. Which is why whenever you aren’t feeling good, that means it’s time to pause and take an audit of what’s going on in your life. What are you focusing on? What are you eating? How much are you sleeping?

It is so important to give yourself a break every now and then. Let me say it louder for those in the back. YES, you are allowed to take a break from wedding planning!

This one will be short and seem simple. I have found it to be really tough in a world that tells us to do more, be perfect, and never quit to actually just STOP and take time for ourselves! That’s right brides, you may feel like there is no way everything is going to get done and you still have a million decisions to make, but a relaxed bride is one who is more focused on her
marriage than her wedding. So take some “me time” – here are a few ideas to help you take a deep breath and just RELAX!

1. Take a bubble bath complete with scented candles, delicious chocolate and some light tunes (throw in some epsom salts and your aching muscles will thank you!)

2. Sit down with a juicy novel underneath a tree and read for 30 minutes, take in the fresh air, and enjoy the sunshine

3. Treat your body like a temple and ask your partner for a massage – feel all that stress literally melt away.

4. Diffuse some lavender oil or peppermint oil and meditate for 20 minutes (if you do this every day you are my HERO)!

5. Make sure you are taking your time when you eat to enjoy the taste, texture, and smells of your food. Don’t just scarf it down.

6. Add some lemon to warm water and drink this first thing every morning to help get your body regulating.

7. Snuggle up with a sweet furry friend!

8. Spend the first 10 minutes/last 10 minutes of your day journaling any and every thought that comes to mind so you can leave it there on the paper and not running marathons in your mind.

9. Have a date day with your honey, and invest in a deck of conversation cards (I highly suggest Well Known)!

10. Make a “Quick Wins” list of easy to do things that you can cross off after accomplishing. Sometimes the small wins can give us the energy boost we need to tackle the big wins.

11. Try yoga. Stretch your body instead of your mind as you learn to breathe happiness into your body and connect with your soul.

12. Disconnect from technology for a day and instead let your imagination run wild as you take in the world around you.

13. Make a list of 10 things you are grateful for (yes, you can include this blog in your list).

14. Declutter the space you live in, sometimes when you free up physical space it also frees up mental space/clutter as well.

15. Call three people and tell them how much you love them.

16. Have an impromptu dance party with your best girls (via Zoom duh!)

17. Use an app like Happify or Calm to find activities that rejuvenate your mind and spirit.

18. Dream about the future you want – and be specific (Who is there? What do you do? Where are you? How do you feel?)

19. Take some time to draw or invest in a coloring book and use all the colors of the rainbow.

20. Watch your favorite movie from when you were a kid and be reminded that life can be simple and joyful if you let it be.

21. Forgive yourself for not knowing what to do during a new challenge. Remind yourself you will make new decisions based on the new information you have now.

22. Do the Affirmation Alphabet. Use “I am” statements and go through the whole alphabet to store up positive affirmations about yourself. (ex. I am amazing! I am beautiful!)

23. Take a 20 minute cat nap… with your cat 😉

Most of all, lean into the desire to make planning fun! You got this girl, and if you need someone to bounce ideas off of please don’t hesitate to reach out.
