Rachel and Josh’s Intentional Los Angeles Warehouse Wedding at the HNYPT
Rachel and Josh’s wedding at the HNYPT in downtown Los Angeles was all about intentional moments and meaningful connections. Instead of a traditional first look, they did something a little different: a “first sip.” Meeting at the bar for the first time on their wedding day, they shared a quiet drink together, a moment that truly set the tone for a day centered on connection and time together. Making space in the timeline for them to soak in these moments was key, as they wanted to be fully present with each other.
A Design Inspired by Blue Willow China
Rachel’s design inspiration was rooted in a timeless classic – Blue Willow china. Her mother and aunt, both designers, shared stories about the history of this iconic blue pattern and the significance of its delicate glaze. This conversation gave Rachel a fresh appreciation for the pattern, which became a central theme woven throughout the décor. The result was a beautiful blend of vintage and modern, perfect for the industrial chic vibes of HNYPT.
Pampas Grass and Family Memories
One element Rachel insisted on including was pampas grass, a flower with deep roots in her family’s traditions. Growing up, her uncle – who she describes as a “bonus father” – would pull the car over whenever they saw pampas grass. He’d cut one stalk for each of them, and they’d have a bit of fun (gently) hitting each other over the head with them. It was their way of being “bonkers” together, and now pampas grass has become a symbol of family love and lightheartedness.
Bringing Together a Surrogate Family for Hair and Makeup
For Rachel, her wedding day wouldn’t have been complete without two special people: Tokiko Inoue and Brielle McKenna. She met these talented hair and makeup artists during her years performing at Universal Studios’ Grinchmas show, where they all bonded like family. Rachel even knew she wanted Brielle and Tokiko on her wedding team long before she got engaged. Having them there to work their magic was more than a beauty choice – it was a reunion with people she loves and trusts.
Capturing It All with Kelly H Photo
Rachel and Josh were thrilled to have Kelly H Photo capture their day. After connecting on Instagram and meeting for an engagement shoot, they knew she was the perfect fit. Kelly’s easy-going energy made them feel comfortable, and she beautifully captured the candid, heartfelt moments that made this day unforgettable. Plus, she’s now become a friend, making the day that much more relaxed and enjoyable.
The Bride’s Artistic Touch
Rachel’s creativity shone throughout the wedding. She designed her own invitations, menus, and seating chart, bringing a personal touch to each guest’s experience. Her eye for design added a unique, heartfelt layer to the day, blending seamlessly with the venue’s industrial backdrop and the rich blue and white palette inspired by Blue Willow china.
Rachel and Josh’s wedding was a true celebration of intentional time, family bonds, and the magic that comes from honoring the past while embracing the future. Also if you loved this Los Angeles warehouse wedding at the HNYPT then check out their fun and intimate hotel engagement session here!
