Quail Ranch is one of those rare Southern California wedding venues that feels completely tucked away, even though it’s still easily accessible. Located in Simi Valley, the property is expansive, private, and surrounded by rolling hills, oak trees, and open sky. It has a relaxed ranch feel with just enough polish to elevate the experience.
What makes a Quail Ranch wedding especially appealing is how much space you have to truly settle in. There’s room to breathe, space to move at an unhurried pace, and plenty of quiet corners that naturally lend themselves to meaningful moments throughout the day.
Couples who choose Quail Ranch aren’t usually looking for something trendy or overdone. They’re drawn to venues that feel grounded, personal, and experience-focused.
Here’s why this venue stands out:
Privacy & exclusivity: The property feels entirely your own for the day
Indoor & outdoor flexibility : Ideal for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception flow
Natural beauty: Minimal décor needed thanks to the landscape
Relaxed timeline: Space allows the day to unfold without feeling rushed
It’s especially well-suited for couples who want their wedding to feel like a gathering, not a production, while still offering a beautiful setting for elevated portraits and candid moments.

Quail Ranch has some of the most beautiful getting ready spots. Before getting into her wedding dress Kelly and her girls popped some champagne and celebrated this bride to be.

Since Kelly and Austin decided to not do a first look she did a first look with her bridesmaids. We were so excited to see her and she was beyond stunning.

Kelly’s flowers were created by Unique Floral Designs, a Los Angeles wedding florist.

The bridesmaids wore a mix of champagne satin dresses from Show Me Your Mumu.

Kelly also did a first look with her dad.

Meanwhile Austin and the other groomsmen arrived by limo and hung out in the groom’s suite until the ceremony started.

The groomsmen all rented their tuxes from Friar Tux.

The ceremony space at Quail Ranch is framed by nature rather than walls. With rolling hills and oak trees as your backdrop, the setting creates an intimate moment without feeling closed in. Whether you choose the meadow-style lawn or one of the shaded corners of the property, the natural light and landscape invite heartfelt vows and beautiful imagery. It’s a space that feels both grounded and timeless, perfect for couples who want their ceremony to feel like them, surrounded by the gentle quiet of the ranch.
This couple decided to do their ceremony by the grand staircase.

Because we did not do a first look, after the ceremony we took family, bridal party, and husband and wife portraits.

After we took some formal portraits we knew we had to take one that showed everyone’s personality, so we ran to the field and popped some champagne!

Cocktail Hour is held in a shaded, open-air space just steps from the ceremony lawn, guests can mingle against a backdrop of oak trees and rolling hills. With room for lawn games, light bites, and flowing drinks, the setting creates a relaxed, communal vibe that’s perfect for connecting with your favorite people before dinner.

Can you believe that Kelly made these cocktail stirrers by herself? It was the perfect addition to their signature cocktails. I always recommend that my couples add personal details to their day.

Kelly also used an old shutter to display their seating chart.

The reception space at Quail Ranch is warm, open, and designed for celebration. With plenty of room for long tables, a full dance floor, and thoughtful lighting, it strikes a balance between relaxed ranch charm and elevated design. As the sun sets and the space fills with candlelight and music, the evening naturally shifts into a lively, communal atmosphere, one where speeches linger, guests stay on the dance floor, and the night unfolds without feeling rushed.

And then the reception started.

After a toast by her father we snuck away at sunset to grab some husband and wife portraits.

The Quail Ranch wedding venue is just so beautiful. These below are some of my favorites because I just love this spectacular view!

After some sunset photos Kelly and Austin finished up the formalities and then partied the night away!

Quail Ranch is located in Simi Valley, California, making it an easy drive for guests coming from Los Angeles, Ventura County, or the Valley.
Quail Ranch can typically accommodate mid-size to larger guest counts, depending on layout and rentals. It works well for weddings that want space without feeling oversized.
It offers both. Most ceremonies and cocktail hours take place outdoors, with covered or indoor options available for receptions or weather flexibility.
Yes. Having space on property to get ready allows for a calmer start to the day and makes timeline transitions much smoother. Something couples (and photographers) really appreciate.
Think laid-back, refined, and intentional. It’s a great fit for couples who value connection, presence, and a natural flow over rigid structure.
After photographing weddings at Quail Ranch, here are a few things I always recommend to couples:
The property is large and varied, which means incredible photo opportunities, but it also means giving yourself time to enjoy them without rushing.
Golden hour here is beautiful and worth planning around. Aligning your ceremony start time with sunset can make a big difference in both photos and overall feel.
You don’t need to over-decorate. Lean into the natural surroundings and allow moments to unfold organically.
Because the venue spans multiple spaces, vendors who understand movement, timing, and transitions will help everything feel seamless.
A Quail Ranch wedding is ideal for couples who want their day to feel spacious, meaningful, and genuinely relaxed. It’s a venue that encourages presence and those are the weddings that tend to feel the most memorable, both in the moment and years later when you look back at your photos.
