If you’re planning your wedding at Greystone Mansion, you’ve probably picked the most romantic hidden gem of a wedding venue in Beverly Hills. With the gardens, fountains, stone architecture, courtyards and an unbelievable number of beautiful portrait locations, Greystone has everything you could dream up for a European-inspired estate wedding vibe.
I love photographing weddings at Greystone Mansion because you can’t help but to feel swept away in such an elegant place. With so many fun spots for photos within a few steps of each other, it’s impossible not to create beautiful portraits all over the property. And, as a bonus, without having to travel all over Beverly Hills for photos, you can still keep a relaxed timeline that lets you stay present and enjoy your wedding day.
The romantic, old-world feel of Greystone makes it one of the best wedding venues in the Los Angeles area, in my opinion. It’s perfect for couples looking to get out of the city for a garden wedding with European ambiance. Still, as a unique venue, there are a few things to know while navigating your wedding planning here. This guide is designed to help you know what to expect for your wedding at Greystone Mansion.

Before turning onto the property, you would never know this grand, European-inspired estate is hidden in Beverly Hills. It has a bit of that Secret Garden kind of charm. Greystone feels private in a way that’s really hard to find in Los Angeles. Once you’re on the property, with the city out of sight and out of mind, you truly feel transported.
The Formal Garden is probably the first space most people fall in love with, myself included. With big green lawns and surrounding hedges, it’s a romantic’s dream. A historic fountain is the visual centerpiece at the far side of the lawn and sets the scene beautifully for a ceremony.
The multiple courtyards are what make you feel like you were dropped into a European villa. The architecture, stonework, and greenery dotting the grounds give that timeless quality I love so much. The West Courtyard is cozily in between the gardens and the mansion wall, a smaller space that’s perfect for cocktail hour. The Inner Courtyard is more centrally located on Greystone Mansion grounds and opens up wonderfully for dinner and dancing.

Inside the mansion, it’s absolutely stunning! The darker wood, sweeping stairs and old architectural details give us space for elegant portraits, fashion inspired images and moodier black-and-white photographs. Just walking the halls of checkered tile, carved banisters and tall bay windows make you feel like you’ve time traveled.
There are so many, not just good, but absolutely incredible locations at Greystone Mansion for wedding portraits. If you’re looking for a venue that has a lot of visual variety, and doesn’t require a lot of wedding day travel, Greystone is my top recommendation in the L.A. and Beverly Hills area.

From my experience shooting weddings at Greystone Mansion, I’ve found that it’s easy to weave in time for photos throughout the day to get as many gorgeous spots as possible. Outside, there are formal gardens, cypress-lined paths, fountains, stone staircases, terraces and the mansion exterior. They are all perfect for timeless portraits. I highly recommend planning couples photos as well as group photos with the bridal party and family outdoors.
Inside, the dark wood, carved details, staircases and grand spaces feel absolutely cinematic. You cannot miss out on getting wedding day portraits in such a one of a kind space. Whether it’s walking the halls with each other for candid moments or intentional, guided portraits, the mansion has everything you could dream of for wedding photos.
I love being able to move between all of those looks easily so couples can remain present and enjoy every moment of their wedding day. That’s such a huge benefit for weddings here. A wedding day can flow from classy portraits in the gardens, to editorial style images inside the mansion, then pull back for the candid moments happening naturally throughout the day.
This is very much a big part of my approach to weddings. I’m happy to provide direction when it’s needed to create intentional portraits, but your wedding will never feel like one long session of posing. Instead, your photos should effortlessly capture your personalities, your connection and everything important about your relationship.

Planning your wedding events at the different locations within Greystone makes for an easy timeline as well. For example, many couples choose The Formal Garden for their ceremony, the West Courtyard for cocktail hour and the Inner Courtyard for dinner and dancing. That means any extra time that may have been reserved for travel, is now time spent with the people you’re there to celebrate with.
Instead of planning one giant portrait block, spread wedding portrait time out in shorter pockets throughout the day. A first look and a few romantic portraits early in the timeline. Couples photos inside the mansion later on. Sneaking away for sunset photos at a break in the reception.
Since your Greystone Mansion wedding will mostly be outdoors, plan around the season and the light. Keep sunset time in mind, and use the different settings at the right time to make sure you enjoy every side of the property. That’s something I’m more than happy to help my couples plan for in their wedding photography timeline.

Greystone has a pretty specific booking process, so if you know you want to get married here, put the opening date in your calendar!
For weddings that include a reception, Beverly Hills residents can currently request dates 11 months in advance, while non-residents can request dates 10 months ahead. Ceremony-only weddings have a different booking window, opening 8 months ahead for Beverly Hills residents and 6 months ahead for non-residents. Requests open at 8:00 a.m. Pacific on the first business day of the month, so I would make sure to have everything ready beforehand!
The City asks couples to include their preferred dates, guest count and event information in the initial request. I would also have a few date options ready so you are not relying on one single Saturday.
You can find the current details and most up to date info on Greystone’s official booking page.

Yes, not only do you get the gardens and exterior grounds, but the City permits the wedding party to photograph throughout the mansion as well on the wedding day.
Greystone has a maximum of 150 guests for a wedding reception, including the wedding party, so that you have enough room to move easily between spaces.
Greystone is not an all-inclusive wedding venue, so you do want to plan for your own catering, rentals, décor and other vendors. They also require a professional wedding coordinator. I would prioritize booking a great planner with experience at the venue early on in the process because they can help you make the most of a venue like this. I’m happy to help with amazing planner recs when you book wedding photography with me!
Not completely. Greystone is also a public park, so visitors may still be elsewhere on the property during regular park hours. I’ve yet to see this become an issue on wedding days!
Because Greystone is a historic property, there are some restrictions around how décor can be installed. You cannot attach décor to the mansion, trees or landscaping, and there are limits on staking items into the ground. Real candles and open flames are not permitted, so you’ll need to plan for alternatives like LED candles.
Greystone does have options for rain! Depending on circumstances, tenting or moving inside may be available, but make sure to communicate with your planner and the venue about what specific options will be available for your day. Layout, guest count, tent permitting and rentals all need to be planned for ahead of time.

Greystone Mansion will always be a tucked away secret gem of Beverly Hills, perfect for romantics. I love each and every wedding at this Euro-inspired mansion with its gorgeous grounds.
